In honor of the pioneers who have come before, Audre Lorde, bell hooks and Tricia Hersey, founder of Nap Ministry, ’ we believe that sleep is both sacred and a form of revolution. Whether you are an activist, a teacher, a student, a mental health worker, a healthcare worker, an executive, a leader, a team member, a caregiver, a parent, a partner, an elder, or a survivor who's worn-out, burnt out, or needing some rest... REST is YOUR HUMAN RIGHT. It is not selfish, it's self-full. Having a safe place to return to yourself and restore your inner space is essential to your mental health and physical resilience.
Our sacred nap practice is tailored to bring you deep rest. That's why we offer a variety of in person and virtual, personal and group sessions, with guided meditations, mindful movements, soothing sounds to help you find the rest that works best for you.
I thought I could do it all because of my passion for my work. As a woman and successful nonprofit executive, who championed community mental wellness, I thought I had to keep going because the work kept going. Plus, my drive was rewarded and encouraged by my supporters. But then my body said, "STOP!" After insomnia and chronic migraines, my only choice was to listen. My son said, "Mom, you're going to kill yourself trying to be there for everyone." I stopped, rested, and restored. I learned to find my breath, inhale and exhale. I realized self-surrender is essential to self-care, and self-care is the path to self-love.
This was the birth of SACRED NAPS.
